They represent the best America has to offer in scenery, historical and archaeological relics, and cultural definition. Yellowstone

Yellowstone was the first national park in the U.S. and is also widely held to be the first national park in the world. The park is known for its wildlife and its many geothermal features, especially the Old Faithful geyser, one of its most popular. Yellowstone National Park sits on top of a dormant volcano and is home to more geysers and hot springs than any other place on earth. Wonders abound at this truly unique national park, from sites like the Yellowstone Grand Canyon to wildlife like America’s largest buffalo herd, grizzly bears, and wolves. Approximately 50 percent of the world’s hydrothermal features are at Yellowstone National Park, creating an effect that makes the ground appear to be on fire.

Yosemite

Yosemite National Park is filled with dramatic scenery including gigantic granite domes, cliffs, rivers, creeks, high waterfalls and Giant Sequoia. From the minute you enter this area, it is as if you have left the world you knew and had been transported into a magical kingdom. Yosemite became a national park in 1890, and more than 125 years later, it's still wowing visitors. The park covers 1169 square miles with a myriad of high country wonders to experience. People from every part of the world dream of, and come to Yosemite for an experience that words cannot begin to describe.

Grand Canyon

This natural landmark formed about five to six million years as erosion from the Colorado River cut a deep channel through layers of rock. Though not the deepest, longest, or widest canyon in the world, the Grand Canyon is renowned for its beauty and awe-inspiring size. The incredible 277-mile long rift divides the Colorado Plateau, forming part of the Colorado River Basin. It is one of the most studied landscapes in the world, with extensive fossil records, a multitude of geologic features and rich archeological history.

Zion

The park encompasses some of the most scenic canyon country in the United States, featuring high plateaus, a maze of sandstone canyons and waterfalls with colorful hanging gardens. The highlight of Zion National Park is an expansive canyon. Averaging 2,000 feet deep, Zion Canyon offers hiking opportunities along its floor in the 20 to 30 foot wide area known as The Narrows and the challenging area known as The Subway. Swimming is also permitted in this area of the Virgin River.

Bryce Canyon

One of the most beautiful parks in the USA, Bryce Canyon National Park overlooks astonishing rock formations and is awe-inspiring. Bryce Canyon showcases the stunning geology of southern Utah, a red-rock wonderland created by wind, water, and snow. Among the nation's most beloved parks, Bryce is a major draw for hiking, challenging rock climbing, and winter cross-country skiing trails. With terrain that fits all activity levels, exploring the trails can be a great activity for families.
