Sony revealed its first EV concept Vision-S 02

Electronics manufacturer Sony has announced plans to enter the market of electric cars. The company made such a statement during the CES exhibition in Las Vegas, USA. It is only known that in the spring of 2022, the Japanese firm will establish a new division, Sony Mobility, which will develop its own electric cars. As a result, Sony expects to enter the market with it, but the company has not yet announced terms and more detailed plans.

The Sony Vision-S 02 is a developed concept of the Vision-S 01, which was also shown to the public at the Consumer Electronics Show, but in 2020. Moreover, if the Vision-S 01 was a sedan, the Vision-S 02 is a crossover.

The length of the Sony Vision-S 02 is 4.9 m, width — 1.93 m, height — 1.65 m, and the wheelbase — 3 m. Ground clearance is 157 mm. The design is similar to Vision-S 01, but the crossover has bigger wheels. The Vision-S 02 crossover is equipped with two electric motors with a total capacity of 536 hp. The top speed is 180 km/h. How fast it accelerates to 100 km/h — is not known yet, but experts suppose that the EV can make it in 5 seconds.

Previously, Sony said that the company has no plans to produce its own cars yet. The Japanese said they see their cars as experimental platforms for demonstrating new technologies and further research. Now, this Japanese company is considering their mass production.
