Tesla began producing the Model Y back in 2020. At that time, cars were only available to U.S. drivers. In Europe, the model was introduced only in August 2021.
Model Y production was such an important project that the plant in Fremont, California did not stop even during the pandemic.
The Model Y complemented the trio of Model S, Model 3, and Model X titans. There are two options to choose from: the entry-level Long Range model and the more powerful Performance version.
