Lamborghini recreated Countach 1971 a 50-years old supercar concept

Lamborghini presented the long-lost Countach LP 500 concept to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its debut at the Geneva car show.

Lamborghini needed more than 25,000 hours of handwork to complete the recreation "on behalf of an important collector". The name of the buyer is kept a secret. He contacted Lamborghini at the end of 2017 to ask them whether it would be possible to resurrect the first Countach prototype.

After looking into the original technical drawings and designs, Lamborghini started to build the V12 engine and related mechanical bits using original spare parts, restored components from the 1970s, or new parts faithfully built to the original plans. A remarkable fact is that Lamborghini contracted Pirelli to create an exclusive set of 1971-specification Cinturato CN12 tires, albeit using a more modern compound and structure than available back then.

Giuliano Cassataro, the head of the recreation team, said: "The collection of documents was crucial. There had been so much attention paid to all the details of the car, to their overall consistency and to the technical specifications".
