The American consulting company J.D. Power has published its annual ranking of automobile companies that produce the most reliable cars. This year, South Korean brands topped the list, taking the first three places. The rating is based on the reviews of thousands of owners of new cars bought not more than three years ago. They were asked to report about the defects they encountered during the year.
First place went to Kia with 145 recorded complaints per 100 cars. The U.S. Buick brand came in second place with 147 problems per every 100 cars. The third and fourth places went to Hyundai and Genesis with 148 and 155, respectively, and Lexus, the leader of last year's ranking, dropped to fifth place with 159 complaints per 100 cars.
J.D. Power also named the most reliable models in each segment. In the category of compact cars, the first place went to Toyota Corolla, and Hyundai Sonata won in the medium-size category. Among crossovers, the first place went to the following models: Lexus NX ("best compact premium SUV"), Hyundai Santa Fe ("best midsize SUV"), and Lexus RX ("best midsize premium SUV").
