Since its opening on April 1992, Disneyland Paris has welcomed Disney fans from all over the world to walk down a bustling Main Street USA toward a picturesque pink castle and into lands of fantasy and make-believe. Today, the European park will celebrate its 30th anniversary from 6 March 2022. With no end date in sight, there's plenty of time to enjoy all that Disneyland Paris offers during its celebration year. Here's a taste of what visitors can expect.
Avengers Campus will open summer 2022
Later this summer, guests visiting Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris Resort will gather in their own version of Avengers Campus, similar to the one already open at Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort. The new land invites guests to live out their superhero dreams by slinging webs alongside Spider-Man on the park's own version of Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure, a ride at Disney California Adventure Park. As they ride through the attraction, guests can virtually catch spider-bots that have become out of control. In the end, families can compare who racked up the most points to see who is the ultimate web slinger.
Along with Spider-Man, Iron Man will have his own attraction on Avengers Campus. The additional attraction replaces what was once the Disneyland Paris version of the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster with Aerosmith. Disneyland Paris's latest mock-up art shows ride vehicles looking like the one from the defunct coaster, but with a new red and silver candy paint. The front of the ride vehicle looks to have its own arc reactor, just like Tony Stark’s suit.
New day and night entertainment
Since 1992, the entertainment department of Disneyland Paris has produced more than 200 shows. With the beginning of the 30th anniversary, guests can look forward to new entertainment throughout the resort. During the day, visitors can see "Dream and Shine Brighter!," a new show that will take place several times a day and feature over 30 Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse and his friends decked out in new anniversary costumes.
Speaking of costumes, Minnie Mouse is getting a brand new pantsuit designed by Stella McCartney. The blue pantsuit features Minnie's iconic polka dots and is made of sustainable fabrics. However, this is not the first time Minnie Mouse has traded out her classic dress: the adorable mouse first donned a two-piece suit aboard Disney Cruise Line in 2019.
When the night washes over Sleeping Beauty Castle, guests want to make their way to the front of the beautiful structure to see a captivating new Disney Illuminations pre-show called Disney D-Light. The show will use over 200 drones, video projections, illuminated water jets, lighting and mist, all set to favorite Disney songs to get guests excited about the big fireworks show.
This is the first time Disney Park has used drone technology in a daily outdoor show above its castle. During the show, synchronized drones will form a sparkling "30" in the sky to the tune of the new anniversary song "Un monde qui s'illumine," which means "a world that lights up".
Tasty treats abound
Disney parks around the world are known for incredible food and beverage options, and that is true for Disneyland Paris' 30th anniversary. Throughout the celebration, guests can try more than 60 new and limited-time dishes, including savory vegan paninis and salted mashed-potato waffles.
Table service restaurants around the resort will serve new desserts developed by the resort's pastry team, including a white chocolate and strawberry cake served under a dome called "Le Bouquet Final." Visitors to all-you-can-eat buffets will find a new macaron assortment for the 30th anniversary. At the resort, adult guests can sip on a pink "Happy Birthday" cocktail created only for the anniversary by the barman team at Disneyland Paris.
Gardens of Wonder
As guests approach Sleeping Beauty Castle, they will come across new Gardens of Wonder. The 10 themed gardens will have 30 pieces of kinetic art based on Disney and Pixar characters. Exhibits include the Garden of Asia, where guests can look at Baymax sculptures from Big Hero 6, Mushu from Mulan, and Sisu from Raya and the Last Dragon. Each of the pieces is inspired by various influences, including the works of renowned artist Salvador Dali.
Limited-edition merchandise
Buying a souvenir is a must-do for most Disney fans before they leave the theme parks for the night.
