Chinese company Dongfeng Motor is developing Warrior — a new version of the large SUV, which externally resembles a classic military all-terrain vehicle HMMWV (the "civilian" model is known as Hummer H1). The basis of Warrior M18 is a new platform, developed by Dongfeng specifically for large electric vehicles. The SUV will get a power plant with a total capacity of 800 kW, which is equivalent to 1,087 horsepower. The heavy 5.2-meter car weighing 3.1 tons will be able to accelerate from a standing start to a hundred in about 5 seconds. A set of 140 kWh batteries will allow traveling at least 500 kilometers on a single charge. At the same time, it will be possible to recharge the battery with the special system in less than 30 minutes.
In addition, the Warrior M18 will get a complex of modern semi-automatic control systems. As expected, the model will have adaptive cruise control, lane-holding function, automatic emergency braking system, and other active electronic "assistants".
Warrior will be able to compete with the new GMC Hummer EV, which is equipped with three electric motors with a total output of more than 1,000 horsepower in its "senior" modification. The batteries allow driving about 550 kilometers without recharging. Production of the electric SUV will begin in 2023. Prices for cars will start from about 700 thousand yuan (about $110 000).
