Chevrolet unveiled the production version of the all-electric Silverado EV pickup at the CES Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The car has nothing in common with the classic model with the same name and shares some technical solutions with the recently revived GMC Hummer EV. Just like the Hummer and the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq crossover, the Silverado EV is built on the Ultium platform, which General Motors developed specifically for its electric line-up.
Despite the common architecture with the Hummer, the Silverado is a simpler and more dutiful car. Thus, it has no three-engine power plant, "crab mode" and extreme increase in ground clearance. The default font and rear suspensions are independent on springs, and only for a surcharge they can be equipped with pneumatic elements, and the rear wheels can be made pivotable.
The pickup, which will be put into production only next year, will be offered in two versions. The initial version with the index WT will be equipped with two electric motors (one on each axle) with a total output of 517 hp and 834 Nm. The more advanced RST variant will be noticeably more productive: its engines develop 673 hp and 1057 Nm. Such a Silverado EV will make 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The range in both versions will be identical — 644 km.
The interior of the Silverado EV is designed in a minimalist style, but the instrument panel is fully digital. In addition, the central console hosts a giant 17-inches touchscreen. A 14-inch projection screen is also available as an option for the driver. In addition, among the additional equipment is listed trail autopilot Super Cruise, which is already installed on some models of Cadillac.
Despite the late start of production, Chevrolet has already announced prices for the Silverado EV. The base WT variant will cost at least $39,900, and the top-of-the-line RST First Edition will cost $105,000.
