Cars from Once upon a time... in Hollywood

What cars drive the characters of the ninth Tarantino film "Once upon a time... in Hollywood"? The film takes place in Hollywood in 1969. The Director accurately conveys the atmosphere of that time, as usual, paying great attention to details. One of these features of the movie is vintage cars from the 1960s.

Stephen Butcher helped find more than 2,000 cars for the film, including a Cadillac DeVille (1966) and a replica of the Mansons' Ford Galaxie. Butcher has been searching for movie cars for 30 years. He has never received a task to find so many cars in his entire career.

So, let's look at these cars and briefly learn their history:

  1. 1966 Cadillac DeVille

The original car in the film belongs to Rick Dalton, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Cadillac DeVille belongs to actor Michael Madson, who drove this car in" Mad dogs " (1992). Medson kept the car in the garage, so Butcher's team had to refresh the paint and upholstery of the Cadillac.

  1. Volkswagen Karmann Ghia 1964

Dalton's understudy, played by Brad Pitt, drove a battered blue Volkswagen Karmann Ghia in the film . Tarantino fans might have recognized this car from "Kill Bill." The old model was equipped with a Subaru engine with an automatic transmission.

  1. MG TD 1962

Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate drive a vintage MG TD at the beginning of the film. Initially, Tarantino wanted a real Roadster of the 30s, Butcher decided to find a similar modern car.

  1. Ford Galaxie 1959

Stephen Butcher's team also found a copy of the Ford Galaxie that Charles Manson's family drove. In the movie this sedan is driven by Manson's followers to Dalton's house. There was no question of finding the original car. As Butcher noted in an interview, " it would be creepy to have an original car on set."

  1. Porsche 911 1969

In the film, Sharon Tate(Margot Robbie) goes to town to get a book in a black Porsche 911. The car began to be produced in the fall of 1963 and until 1989, when it was replaced by an updated modified version of the 911.
