Auto news from August 31st to September 4th

The most interesting thing in the car world for the past week.

Robert Pattinson's Batman car looks like a real prototype

Photospies have grabbed some pictures of the new superhero transport. According to the received footage, the car borrowed the features of the classic muscle cars of the mid-60s of the last century. The Batmobile has incorporated the best of the first generation Dodge Charger and Chevrolet Camaro. It was also revealed that the Dark Knight will acquire two different cars, presumably for different scenes.

The film is slated for release next summer, when we can watch the roaring motor on big screens.

A mid-20th century pickup set a track record

Pikes Peak is one of the most famous race tracks in the United States. Its difficulty lies in the height difference and 156 turns. In fact, this is a huge serpentine, starting at an altitude of 2800 meters, and ending at 4300 meters above sea level. The length of the track is nearly 20 kilometers.

The redesigned Ford F1 driven by experienced pilot Scott Birdsell completed the test in 11 minutes and 24 seconds, a whopping 13 seconds better than the previous record holder. The 1949 model got a new engine, the power of which, according to rumors, was close to 1500 hp. In addition, the pickup kit includes an upgraded suspension, tires and brakes, which, by the way, overheated anyway shortly before the finish line.

Peugeot 3008 got a facelift

The French crossover has undergone a noticeable restyling and now looks bold and innovative. The updates affected, first of all, the appearance of the SUV. It now flaunts a frameless radiator, charged wheels and advanced optics.

The interior decoration has become richer and more solid. Massage chairs, wireless chargers, large instrument panel and multimedia system are on deck. The car is equipped with driver fatigue sensors, a night vision device, an emergency braking system and even a traffic sign recognizer.

The 3008 should enter the European market by the end of this year. It will be equipped with four engine options to choose from: two hybrid and two petrol.

Audi has updated the Q2

Not only the French are interested in restyling. The German company has taken seriously its compact and affordable crossover, having successfully worked on the design.

The new version Q2 will go on sale in September and will cost from 25 thousand euros. The bumpers were completely changed, the radiator was redesigned and the air intake system increased. On the other hand, the good news is that now LED optics are available even as standard. More upgraded versions are equipped with matrix lights.

At the start of sales, the SUV will boast only a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with a power of 150 «horses». In the future, the engineers will supplement the power line with variations of gasoline and diesel engines.
