Audi concern has huge ambitions to capture the growing EV market. The company decided to enter it with its most luxurious car and presented the Q5 E-Tron. The car made its debut at Auto Guangzhou 2021 and despite the exterior wasn’t a secret to fans, the Q5 E-Tron impressed exhibitors and, subsequently, Internet users.
The Q5 E-Tron was developed at the SAIC Volkswagen joint venture, therefore it has VW Group’s MEB electric vehicle platform. At a closer look, the Q5 E-Tron represents the bigger version of the Q4 E-Tron. The Q5 E-Tron has two editions — «40» and «50». The main difference is in the powertrain. Q5 E-Tron «40» powered by a 201-h.p. electric motor mounted on the rear axle; Q5 E-Tron «50» features two electric motors (one on each axle) with 302 h.p. Both models have an 83.4 kWh battery offering an NEDC range of 560 km on the RWD model and 520 km on the AWD.
Interior looks similar to the Q4 E-Tron with the difference in seats — Q5 E-Tron is a three-row SUV. Moreover, Q5 has premium multimedia, touchscreen, and the cabin is featured in fine materials with natural colors.
At the beginning of the sale, the Q5 E-Tron will be available only in China. Europe and North America will get the EV with another PPE platform, that is used for the next-generation Porsche Macan EV.
